We are offering unique experiential learning opportunities in entrepreneurship ad private equity. These programs range in length from a few months to a year and combine technology and digital skills development with business and entrepreneurship learning. The mode is hands-on and empowers students to discover real opportunities, build products and services, and even start new companies and organizations.
Venture Year (Gap Year) Programs can be thought of as part immersion gap year and part accelerator: They are a cross between online learning, startup pre-incubation and acceleration, and require a full-time commitment. GeeLearn has designed and curated relevant and practicable online curriculum for various student segments and interests, applying best practices of instructional design.
There are many reasons for taking a gap year at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of education . Our participants are motivated strongly by the yearning to start a company (or at least learning how to do so) while learning digital skills. However, there are other motivations, too, including exposure to business, network building, and the need to produce something tangible of value during the course of formal education.
Virtual: Our Gap Year programs are 100% online, meaning that students can participate from anywhere on the globe, if they have a computer and good internet access. Presently, most students will participate from the comforts of their own homes. Others may want to join local co-working spaces and work from those. However, students may choose to travel and participate in one of our gap year programs. It’s their call.
Structured yet Flexible: Our program is structured, with a weekly schedule that includes online learning, virtual meetings, networking, research, building and prototyping, and other tasks. It is also flexible enough to accommodate different interests, team sizes, and new organization types.
Experienced Team: Our Online Professor has learned and taught business and entrepreneurship (both online and in-person) at leading international universities including Cornell, Edinburgh, Stanford. Our team are Gappers themselves, having designed and participated in their own self-structured Gap Years at both the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Our Online Professor is also a serial technology entrepreneur and former venture capitalist in Silicon Valley. He has experience with global venture development in different countries of the world.
Covid-19 Compatible: As our Gap Year programs are online and offer remote participation, we do not require travel or in-person interaction. Thus, participants stay safe and can continue to socially distance. When the pandemic has passed and travel is made possible again, students can travel at their leisure and participate in the program remotely from wherever they are in the world.
A Gap Years or Semester, also known as a Leave of Absence or LOA, may be taken by students at the undergraduate, postgraduate, professional, and even postdoctoral levels. Most universities and colleges have formal request and approval processes for students to take a gap year or LOA, and the majority are willing to approve such requests from students if they are justified. Our eligibility rules allow for participation if the gap year is taken before enrollment in an accredited university or college, during the educational period, or just after graduation. Our programs are global and delivered in English, made available to students in any country of the world where learning entrepreneurship, technical and digital skills is legal.
Applied Learning and Tangible Outputs: As our programs are experiential, students are expected to at least build and prototype an innovative product or service. Many will actually start new firms and organizations, including for- and non-profit entities.
